Shows, Awards and Posh Frocks, a busy October

There’s just one week to go before the Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show opens its doors in Harrogate.  We’re busy preparing for that at the moment as well as a breakfast event we’re running on the opening morning of the show.  This is our second show this month and on top of that we’re in the middle of the awards and awards ceremony season.

All of which is a roundabout way of saying that we’ve been a bit busy and the blog’s been quieter than it should have been but we’ve got a lot going on, so here’s a quick update of what we’ve been up to.

A big thank you to everyone who came to see us at Grand Designs Live in Birmingham.  The show was something of a revelation. We’ve done it before and while it’s always very well attended, it sometimes has the feel of good family day out rather than a serious house building show packed with live projects. We took a 18″ square box packed with LED technology and squeezed it onto our tiny stand and were amazed with the volume and quality of enquiries we got. We think we’ve spoken to everyone we said we were going to but if you’re reading this and we haven’t yet, apologies. We’ve been flooded with enquiries after the show as well.

Hugh Dennis - Build It Awards 2014In between Grand Designs and The Northern Homebuilding Show is usually a chance to draw breath but this year October has been dominated by awards. This month we’ve been finalists in the “Build It” awards innovative technology category.  We’re shortlisted for the prestigious “Lighting” Design awards which take place in March at the Hilton, Park Lane and this morning we’ve been told we’ve made the finals in two categories in the “Northern Design Awards”.  Thanks to our clients who have been kind enough to let us enter the projects and thanks also to our talented photographers who capture our work so beautifully.

The Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show is usually our busiest consumer show of the year. We’re taking a large stand with a lot of product demonstration capability so come and say hello.

Normal service on the blog should be resumed next week. We’re planning a piece on the power of concealed lighting, we’ve got an update on the shape of the UK residential lighting market and the way that market has shifted over the last 12 months. Have a great weekend and if you’re planning to come to the Northern Homebuilding Show don’t forget to pop in.
