Business (not quite) as usual though it’s getting more normal

Further update on 4/11/2020

Since we’re able to do a huge proportion of our design work remotely, we’ve taken the decision to close our offices for the lockdown starting tomorrow. That doesn’t mean our offices are out of bounds. If we need to do something that can only be achieved in the office we’ll be in but it does mean that the office will not be guaranteed to be open on any given day. Remote working has worked very well for us and we’ve learned a lot from the first lockdown. So we’re still busy, still working and would be delighted to talk to you about any lighting design challenges you might be facing.

We didn’t close over lockdown although the offices were shut for general use and we moved the huge majority of our design work to remote working.  We’ve actually been incredibly busy since March. Our projects have been progressing and we’ve just relaunched our new website

The offices at Severfield Close are now back open again although we’re continuing to work remotely where we can and that means fewer people in on any given day.  If you’d like to come and see us, we’d be delighted to welcome you in.  We’ve got hygiene and distancing measures in place and meetings have to be by appointment only.

We’re living in extraordinary times and our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the current global pandemic.  The only way we can get through situations like this is for us all to act together and do everything we can to help.

This is a quick update of what we’re doing at Brilliant Lighting.  The Design and Project Management team are all working remotely and working collaboratively using online tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Blizz.  We can keep the team safe while everyone’s got access to the tools and systems they need to keep our design and project work moving forward.   Lighting design lends itself to a degree of remote working and collaboration and we’re keen to carry on helping people with their projects.

The office itself is closed and our phone system is cloud based which helps the team working remotely.  Office meetings are not surprisingly suspended.  We’re continuing to process orders through our online store and we’re working closely with our suppliers to monitor supply levels and delivery.  There’s likely to be longer leadtimes on some items but we’ll check each item with our suppliers and let you know so you can make an informed decision on whether you want to place an order.

Site visits are at an absolute minimum and we review each instance on a case by case basis.  We’ll review any visit in advance with our customers and partners.

Our programme of consumer shows is obviously on hold.  We’re hoping that the NEC show and Build It Live will go ahead on their rearranged dates in July and September but that’s outside of our control.  The Harrogate Homebuilding & Renovating Show is booked in for November and let’s hope we’re able to exhibit there.

That’s a summary of what we’re up to.  We want to keep the team, our customers and partners safe, we want to carry on working on projects as normally as we can and we’re well equipped to do so.  We’ll continue to monitor the situation and advise on any changes to how we’re working.   Thanks.
