Thank you to everyone who came to see us at the NEC

It was so good to be back at the NEC for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show over the weeked. We did the Harrogate show in November so it’s super to get back to our normal coverage by exhibiting at the Birmingham show.

Getting out and talking to people about lighting design for their new buiilds or renovations is great. It reminds us of what people are looking for, where they’re stuggling and it gives us a better idea of what’s happening in the consstruction sector. It’s also our best opportunity to remind people of the number 1 rule for doing lighting well. “Plan your lighting design early”. It can’t be said enough; planning lighting early in the build process gives you the best chance of getting it right.

Lighting Design Masterclass

Melanie Shaw, Design Director, delivering a Lighting Design masterclass at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show

The Lighting Design masterclass in the Masterclass Theatre was really well attended. We hope people got lots of tips and information from the session. Apologies for the awful projector system which made many of the photos so difficult to see from so many angles; that was outside of our control. We’ve fed back to the show organisers that they need to do something to increase the brightness and contrast of the projection system or reduce the conflicting overhead light.

We’re exhibiting at more shows later in the year

We’ve got a couple more shows planned in for later in the year. We’ll be at Bicester in June for Build It Live and then back in Harrogate for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in November. We’ve been at every Harrogate Homebuilding & Renovating Show since 2004 which is rather scary.

New Lighting Design Case Studies

After two years of not being able to photograph finished projects we’re catching up. We’ve shot four newly finished lighting design projects over the last few weeks and we’ll work them up as full case studies on the website soon.
